SALARY PLUGv1.0

This all started with a Google Sheet.

A friend hit me up about a job offer from a competitor. He wasn't sure if the pay was fair and wanted a second opinion.

I asked him what they were offering, and right away I had a gut feeling it was low for an AE. So I started digging. I stayed up late that night pulling comp data from LinkedIn, Glassdoor, Y Combinator job boards, and dozens of startup careers pages. I wasn't just looking for salary ranges — I wanted the full picture: OTE, red flags, and how roles were actually structured.

By the next day, I had built a list of 50 roles in a Google Sheet. I sent it over to him.

He was shocked. It was the most useful breakdown he'd seen.

That moment stuck with me.

If that spreadsheet helped him, how many other people were flying blind when it came to comp?

So I expanded it. Cleaned it up. Gave it a home online.

That was the first version of what's now called SalaryPlug — a place to see what people in tech and sales are actually getting paid, without the guesswork.

What started as a Google Sheet is now a public tool used by thousands.

Where does the data come from?

We pull salary data directly from public job listings — the ones companies legally have to post. Then we verify those numbers with real people who've received actual offers, especially in tech and sales roles.

No surveys. No BS. Just what it really pays.

How often is it updated?

Every day.

We scrape new listings constantly and clean the database as we go.

We also let users anonymously confirm or correct roles they've been offered — so the numbers stay honest over time.

Can I submit my own offer?

Yes, please.

You can anonymously confirm or update a role you've been offered. Whether you're a PM in NYC or an AE in Austin, it helps others know what's fair — and it makes the entire ecosystem smarter.

What's the long-term goal?

To make it impossible for companies to lowball you.

Salary info has been hidden behind closed doors for too long — especially for roles where comp varies wildly, like tech and sales.

We're here to fix that. No fluff. Just transparency.

Why not just use Glassdoor or Levels.fyi?

Because they're not built for what salaries look like today.

Glassdoor is overloaded with outdated reviews — and users say their critical ones get removed.

Levels.fyi is great for Big Tech ladders, but most roles aren't leveled — and most people just want to know what an AE or PM actually got offered last week.

We're focused on real salaries. For real people. Right now.

Is my offer submission anonymous?

100%.

We don't track identity, and we never ask for names or emails on offer submissions. The goal is to share data — not details about you.

What roles do you focus on?

Right now: Sales and Tech.

Think Account Executives, SDRs, Sales Engineers, Product Managers, Designers, Engineers — especially at startups and high-growth companies.

We'll expand based on demand and data volume.
